The Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD) has been recognized by the Colorado Department of Education with an “Accredited with Distinction” rating, the highest accreditation a district can receive in the state. This marks the second year in a row the district has received this accolade. Only 12 districts in Colorado received this honor, placing SSSD among the top 7% statewide.

While classrooms sat quiet over the summer, our facilities team was hard at work investing $1.2 million into sweeping upgrades across the district. Wrapping up in early August just before students and staff returned, this summer’s effort blended major structural overhauls with essential, behind-the-scenes maintenance.

The Steamboat Springs School District has selected Derek Fettig as its new Director of Finance and Operations. Fettig brings more than ten years of financial leadership and operational management to the role, combined with a strong personal commitment to the Steamboat Springs community.

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is inviting all Colorado parents and families to share their feedback on school options and educational choices through August 31. This statewide survey, stemming from House Bill (HB) 26-1428, will directly inform upcoming State Board of Education rulemaking, legislative priorities, and resource allocation across the state.
