Preschool and Kindergarten Registration Now Open
Registration is now open for preschool and kindergarten for the 2026–2027 school year in the Steamboat Springs School District. Families with children starting preschool or kindergarten next fall are encouraged to begin the process as soon as possible. Additionally, new families can register a child, current families can add a new student, and families with students currently enrolled can complete their annual update online.

The Steamboat Springs School District RE-2 (District) is soliciting Statements of Interest, Qualifications and Proposals from qualified firms to provide Owner’s Representative Services to assist the District in the pre-development work and pre-construction work for new affordable employee housing. Prospective respondents (Respondents) are advised to read this information carefully prior to submitting a proposal.

The Steamboat Springs Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution supporting Initiative 195 during its June 8 meeting.

The district's preschool programs at Sleeping Giant School, Soda Creek Elementary School, and Strawberry Park Elementary School each achieved the Level 4 designation through Colorado Shines, the state's quality rating and improvement system for licensed early childhood programs.
Notice is hereby given that a proposed budget has been submitted to the Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026 and has been filed in the office of the superintendent where it is available for public inspection upon request.

Applications are open now through August 23. It only takes a few minutes to apply. This application is for coursework taking place during the 2026 through 2027 school year as well as summer 2027

The Steamboat Springs School District honored Kirsten Brendtro as its 2025-2026 Educator of the Year during the district's end-of-year celebration on May 28, 2026. Brendtro was selected from a group of building-level Educators of the Year who were nominated by staff and later interviewed for the districtwide honor.
The Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD) and the Steamboat Springs Education Association (SSEA) have reached a tentative agreement on compensation and negotiated policy updates for the 2026-2027 school year following the completion of the bargaining process.
At the May 18 Board of Education Meeting, Director of Teaching & Learning Dr. Tim Ridder presented draft calendars for the 2027–2028 and 2028–2029 school years.

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club and the Steamboat Ski Town Rotary Club have announced that ten local students have been selected to receive the Rotary Youth Leadership Award for 2026.
