District Accountability Committee

2024-2025 DAC Meeting Schedule

There will be four DAC meetings in the 2024/2025 academic year:

  • Meeting #1: Wednesday, October 30, 2024, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. (District Office)
    Meeting Minutes

  • Meeting #2: Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. (District Office)

  • Meeting #3, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. (Strawberry Park Elementary)

  • Meeting #4, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. (District Office)

DAC/SAC Composition

District Accountability Committee (DAC) Composition

  • Superintendent

  • DAC Chair

  • One designated principal 

  • SAC Chair from each school

  • Teacher rep from each school

  • Recommended but not required: One administrator from each school

School Accountability Committee (SAC) Composition

  • Principal

  • At least one teacher

  • At least three parents of students enrolled in the school

  • At least one member from PIC (ok if this person is included in your 3 parents as stated above)

  • At least one community representative

  • Chair of SAC needs to be parent (not the community representative and not employed by SSSD)

SAC Responsibilities

August - October

  • Recruit new members if SAC is not full

  • Onboard new members

  • Select/vote on new SAC Chair (if not completed at the end of 2023/2024 school year)

  • Review 2024/2025 budget (previously set in Spring 2024)

  • Review UIP goals (new UIPs this year)

  • Review local and state testing results

  • Review possibilities for parent engagement throughout the school year

  • Be prepared to report to DAC on Wednesday, October 30, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.:

  • All member names/responsibilities

  • Focus for school year based on local and state data

November - February

  • Review progress implementing the UIP and discuss any mid-year adjustments that should be made based on progress monitoring of interim data

  • Review results of any diagnostic reviews (Healthy Kids Colorado, Internal climate & culture data)

  • Continue to support implementation of the parent engagement plans

  • (Elementary only) Assist the school in increasing engagement in creating students’ READ plans

  • If applicable, review truancy data and provide feedback on plans to address habitual truancy (Review SARB policies)

  • If applicable, assist the school in increasing parent engagement with ICAP.

  • Review current year budget and discuss implications and plans for the upcoming school year.

  • Be prepared to report to DAC on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.:

  • Academic data review

  • Climate & culture review

  • Preliminary budget ideas for 2025/2026

March - April

  • Discuss budget recommendations for 2025/2026

  • Be prepared to report to DAC on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

  • Success from the school year / Areas for improvement

May - July

  • Recruit new members

  • Vote for new chair (if applicable)

  • Set schedule for following year

  • Be prepared to report to DAC on Wednesday, May 14, 2025

  • End of year celebration

According to the Colorado Department of Education, the District Accountability Committee is responsible for the following: 

  • Recommending to its local school board priorities for spending school district moneys;  
  • Submitting recommendations to the local school board concerning preparation of the district’s Performance, Improvement, Priority Improvement or Turnaround plan (whichever is applicable);
  • Reviewing any charter school applications received by the local school board and, if the local school board receives a charter school renewal application and upon request of the district and at the DAC’s option, reviewing any renewal application prior to consideration by the local school board;
  • At least annually, cooperatively determining, with the local school board, the areas and issues, in addition to budget issues, that the DAC shall study and make recommendations upon;
  • Providing input and recommendations to principals, on an advisory basis, concerning the development and use of assessment tools to measure and evaluate student academic growth as it relates to teacher evaluations.
  • For districts receiving ESEA funds, consulting with all required stakeholders with regard to federally funded activities; and, 
    • Publicizing opportunities to serve and soliciting parents to serve on the DAC;
    • Assisting the district in implementing the district’s parent engagement policy; and
    • Assisting school personnel to increase parents’ engagement with educators, including parents’ engagement in creating students’ READ plans, Individual Career and Academic Plans, and plans to address habitual truancy.
