Responsibilities and Timeline 
2023-2024 

FIRST SAC/DAC MEETINGS

  • First SAC meeting at each school must be completed within the first three weeks of September.
  • Focus of first SAC meeting should be on UIP, incorporating the Strategic Plan.
  • First DAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in-person with a virtual option.
  • DAC Chair will present at October 10, 2022 Board Meeting

SECOND SAC/DAC MEETINGS

  • Second SAC meeting at each school needs to be scheduled in December prior to Winter Break.
  • Focus of second SAC meeting should be on Budget / Finance (spending priorities). This information will be collected by principals to share with Stephanie Juneau, Finance Director prior to building the 2023/2024 budget. Additional focus will be on reviewing UIP goals / progress.
  • Second DAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in-person with a virtual option.
  • DAC Chair will present at January 23, 2023 Board Meeting

THIRD SAC/DAC MEETINGS

  • Third SAC meeting at each school needs to be scheduled in February.
  • Focus of third SAC meeting should be on Budget / Finance and UIP progress / goals.
  • Third DAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in-person with a virtual option.
  • DAC Chair will present at March 6, 2023 Board Meeting

FOURTH SAC/DAC MEETINGS

  • Fourth SAC meeting at each school needs to be scheduled in April.
  • Focus on fourth SAC meeting should be on Recruitment for following year, Family Engagement, Progress on UIP, etc.
  • Fourth DAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in-person with a virtual option.
  • DAC Chair will present at May 8, 2023 Board Meeting.

District Accountability Committee (DAC) Composition:

  • Superintendent

  • DAC Chair

  • One designated principal 

  • SAC Chair from each school

  • Teacher rep from each school

  • Recommended but not required: One administrator from each school

According to the Colorado Department of Education, the District Accountability Committee is responsible for the following: 

  • Recommending to its local school board priorities for spending school district moneys;  
  • Submitting recommendations to the local school board concerning preparation of the district’s Performance, Improvement, Priority Improvement or Turnaround plan (whichever is applicable);
  • Reviewing any charter school applications received by the local school board and, if the local school board receives a charter school renewal application and upon request of the district and at the DAC’s option, reviewing any renewal application prior to consideration by the local school board;
  • At least annually, cooperatively determining, with the local school board, the areas and issues, in addition to budget issues, that the DAC shall study and make recommendations upon;
  • Providing input and recommendations to principals, on an advisory basis, concerning the development and use of assessment tools to measure and evaluate student academic growth as it relates to teacher evaluations.
  • For districts receiving ESEA funds, consulting with all required stakeholders with regard to federally funded activities; and, 
    • Publicizing opportunities to serve and soliciting parents to serve on the DAC;
    • Assisting the district in implementing the district’s parent engagement policy; and
    • Assisting school personnel to increase parents’ engagement with educators, including parents’ engagement in creating students’ READ plans, Individual Career and Academic Plans, and plans to address habitual truancy.
