Superintendent Search

Overview

The Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education is conducting a superintendent search to support leadership continuity and long-term district success. The Board is working with McPherson & Jacobson, LLC to guide the search process, gather stakeholder input, and support candidate recruitment and screening. Community feedback is a key part of this process and helps inform the Board’s priorities as it reviews candidates and conducts interviews.

Volunteer to Participate in Superintendent Finalist Interviews

The Steamboat Springs School District is seeking volunteers to participate in the interview process for finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

Selected participants will serve on an interview team and provide feedback to the Board of Education following each finalist interview.

Participation Requirements

Individuals selected to serve on an interview team must be available for both of the following events:

Interview Training Session
March 31, 2026
5:00–7:00 PM
District Central Office

Finalist Interviews
April 14, 2026
8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Location: TBD

Each finalist will participate in an interview session lasting approximately 60 minutes.

At the conclusion of each interview, team members will complete a feedback form identifying the candidate’s strengths and considerations for the Board of Education. This feedback will be shared with the Board and considered as part of the final selection process.

Interview Teams

Three interview teams will be formed. Each team will include eight members representing a mix of:

  • District administration

  • District staff

  • Parents and community members

  • Students

Applicants will be notified of their selection status by March 26, 2026.

Stakeholder Feedback Report

In January and February 2026, the district gathered input through community surveys and focus groups. The Stakeholder Feedback Report summarizes themes related to district strengths, priorities, and leadership expectations.

More than 300 survey responses were collected across stakeholder groups, including parents, staff, students, and community members.

Search Process Timeline

January – February 2026

  • Community survey open through February 5

  • Stakeholder focus groups conducted

  • Survey results reviewed with the Board February 9


February – March 2026

  • Position posting opens February 16

  • Application deadline March 16

  • Search firm conducts candidate screening


Late March – April 2026

  • Board executive session to select finalists (March 30)

  • Finalist interviews (April 13–14)

  • Additional engagement opportunities may include:

    • Interview committees

    • Public forums

    • Community Q&A opportunities


Summer 2026

  • Superintendent start date: July 1, 2026

  • Transition and entry planning
