The Steamboat Springs School District is committed to providing equitable access to our programs, services, and digital resources for all members of our community.

Our ongoing accessibility efforts are guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines help make digital content accessible for people with visual, hearing, cognitive, and mobility disabilities while improving usability for all users.

Progress Reports

At Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD), we are committed to making our digital experiences accessible for all. Below are some of the steps we have taken to improve digital accessibility across the district.

Digital Accessibility

PDF Accessibility
We have implemented a new accessibility tool that helps improve the accessibility of both existing and newly published PDF documents for users who rely on assistive technology.

Training Resources
District leadership has received training on creating accessible PowerPoint and Google Slides presentations, particularly those used for Board of Education meetings. We have also developed district resources to help administrators create accessible presentations across departments and schools.

Software Review
Accessibility is considered during software renewals through the use of vendor accessibility questionnaires. These reviews help support the district's ongoing compliance efforts.

Website Accessibility

Website Audit
From June through August 2024, the Communications Department conducted a comprehensive accessibility audit of the district website. Many identified issues have been resolved, and we continue to improve the accessibility and usability of our website as part of an ongoing process.

District Websites
District-managed websites have been consolidated into the main SSSD website to improve consistency, navigation, and accessibility.

Board of Education Meetings
Closed captioning has been added to livestreamed Board of Education meetings to improve accessibility. Board members are also asked to identify themselves before speaking so captions clearly indicate the speaker. In addition, efforts continue to ensure Board of Education presentations meet accessibility standards.
