Accessibility Statement
The Steamboat Springs School District is committed to providing equitable access to our services to all Coloradans.
Our ongoing accessibility effort works towards being in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA criteria. These guidelines not only help make technology accessible to users with sensory, cognitive and mobility disabilities, but ultimately to all users, regardless of ability.
Our efforts are just part of a meaningful change in making all State of Colorado services inclusive and accessible. We welcome comments on how to improve our technology’s accessibility for users with disabilities and for requests for accommodations to any State of Colorado services.

Progress Reports
At Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD), we are committed to making our digital experiences accessible for all. Here's an overview of the progress we’ve made so far:
Digital Accessibility
-
PDF Accessibility: We are investigating tools that will have the ability to convert non-accessible PDFs into fully accessible documents. This ensures our digital documents meet accessibility standards.
-
Training Resources: We are rolling out accessibility training resources to staff leaders to help the district begin to understand the fundamentals of accessibility.
-
Software Review: All software renewals handled by the Technology Director now include an accessibility questionnaire to ensure compliance. Reviews of these questionnaires are ongoing.
Website Accessibility
-
Website Audit: From June to August 2024, the Communications Department audited the district’s website for accessibility issues. We have addressed many of these issues and are continuing to improve the site’s usability. This is an ongoing process.
-
Offshoot Websites: All offshoot websites under district management have been integrated into the main SSSD website to ensure consistency in accessibility.
-
Board of Education Meetings: To improve accessibility, Closed Captioning was purchased as an add-on for streaming Board of Education meetings. Additionally, Board of Education members are now asked to say their names before speaking so that captions clearly identify the speaker during meetings. Additionally, efforts are being made to ensure all BOE presentations are accessible.
We are dedicated to continuing this work to ensure our district is accessible to all students, staff, and community members.
