Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education Accepts Resignation of Kim Brack

Resolution adopted to fill the vacancy within the statutory 60-day vacancy period

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. - January 10, 2023 -  The Board of Education of the Steamboat Springs School District RE-2 (Board) accepted the resignation of Board Director Kim Brack during the January 9, 2023 Board meeting. The Board unanimously adopted a resolution declaring a vacancy and established procedures for filling the vacancy. The Board intends to fill the vacancy within the statutory 60-day time period per C.R.S. 22-31-129(2).

"Kim is a champion for students and staff and does so with great humor, passion and grace," said Board Vice President Chresta Brinkman. 

“On behalf of the Board, I'd like to thank you for serving during a difficult term. We wish you and your family nothing but the best," said Board President Katy Lee. 

Superintendent Dr. Celine Wicks also expressed her gratitude. “Thank you for everything you have done for the Steamboat Springs School District,” said Dr. Wicks.

The Board is accepting applications from persons interested in serving on the Steamboat Springs School District RE-2 Board of Education. According to the resolution, the vacancy will be posted immediately and a new director will be appointed by the current Board. The deadline for submitting affidavits of appointment and letters of interest will be February 3, 2022, at 10 am. If fewer than two applications have been submitted by the deadline, the Board may consider extending the application deadline. Consideration and interviews for the vacancy will be conducted in a public session at the Board special meeting tentatively scheduled for February 13, 2023, but no later than March 6, 2023. The appointee will serve until the next regular school biennial election in November 2023, which is the expiration of the original term. Eligibility for consideration is contingent upon residency in the school district for the last 12 consecutive months and having never been convicted of commission of a sexual offense against a child.
