Steamboat Springs School District Taps Kim Delaney as Preschool Director

The Steamboat Springs School District has hired Kim Delaney as its new Preschool Director. She will begin on August 1 and will transition from her current position as the Lead Preschool teacher for SSSD preschools.

Delaney's extensive career in early childhood education spans over 25 years. She has been a dedicated preschool teacher in the Yampa Valley since 2010. Before that, she served as a Kindergarten teacher and a Title One teacher, a specialist working in schools with many students from low-income families in Minneapolis.

“I desire this position because I want to help children, families, and teachers,” Delaney said. “I enjoy the challenge of each day. I love the wonder of children. I love to explore. I love to laugh. I love to spread kindness, and I want to be an advocate for children, families, and teachers.

Delaney brings a wealth of expertise to her new role, with extensive experience in social/emotional learning, preparing preschoolers for kindergarten, working with students on Individualized Education Programs, and implementing strategies to maximize individual student success.

In her new role as Preschool Director, Delaney will oversee program design, instructional leadership, and management of the District’s Early Childhood Education program. She will also oversee the implementation of a Universal Preschool Program, a crucial initiative for our district and across Colorado.

“Kim Delaney’s appointment as Preschool Director marks a significant step forward for our district,” said Dr. Tim Ridder, Director of Teaching and Learning. "Her vast experience and dedication to early childhood education will be invaluable as we enhance our programs for our youngest learners. This new position will allow us to implement innovative educational strategies and ensure a solid foundation for our children’s future success.”

Delaney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, with a minor in Special Education, from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn. She also has a Director and Early Childhood License. Her favorite quote is, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” by Nelson Mandela.
